More The Broncos could try to sign a free agent running back and/or an offensive lineman in the offseason, but they’ll likely try to re-sign the team’s All-Pro defensive tackle.
The Broncos will need to rework the defensive line if they want to keep Trevor Siemian and Brock Osweiler, but Osweiser and the Denver coaching staff should be willing to let Osweilers go.
A few months ago, the Broncos tried to reroute Osweisers contract by trading him to the Indianapolis Colts.
Osweis agent did not return a call from The Denver Post on Thursday.
The team’s coaching staff is also expected to look into Osweislikes contract, but Broncos coach Vance Joseph said the team does not plan to change Osweiss contract.
“I would say the plan is to try to move on from him,” Joseph said.
“That’s what I’ve said all along, to move forward from him.
That’s what the plan has been, and it’s what we’ll continue to do.”
The Broncos have been one of the NFL’s elite defensive teams for a while, but some of the success was due to a few injuries.
The Broncos have had to deal with a number of injuries and suspensions over the years, but it’s not something they’ll be able to undo easily.
The club’s best player, Von Miller, is expected to miss the next two seasons.
The team is expected a trade for Oswees contract.
In addition, the team could sign an offensive tackle and/ or guard in free agency, but Joe was not willing to speculate about any possible deals.
“We’re going to take a look at all the options,” Joe said.
“We’ll take a deep look at what all the alternatives are and we’ll make that decision based on that.”
